Quirk Notes

Guide

Install on Android

You need a 64-bit device on Android 8 or later.

  1. Download Quirk-Notes.apk on your device.
  2. Open the file. If Android asks, allow your browser to install apps.
  3. Open Quirk Notes from your home screen.

To update, install the newer file over the old one. Your notes stay.

Install on iPad

You need iPadOS 17 or later, and a Windows PC or Mac for the install.

  1. Download Quirk-Notes.ipa on your computer.
  2. Install Sideloadly or AltStore, and connect your iPad.
  3. Open the file with it and sign in with your Apple ID.

With a free Apple ID, the app has to be reinstalled every 7 days.

Use it in a browser

On any iPad, open the web version in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It runs full screen and works offline. It has writing and PDFs, but no AI, recording or sync.

Set up AI

Use either option, or both. With both, your key answers first and the on-device model takes over if that fails.

With a free NVIDIA key

  1. Get a free key from build.nvidia.com.
  2. Add it in Settings. On Android that's Settings › AI › Set up, and on iPad Settings › Online AI.

Your key is stored on your device. The notes the study tools work on are sent to NVIDIA.

With the on-device model

In the same place, tap Download model. It's a one-time 1.1 GB download, best on Wi-Fi, and nothing leaves your device afterwards. On Android it needs about 4 GB of memory, and answers are slower than online.

Study with your notes

On Android, open a notebook, tap ⋯ and choose Study with AI for chat, summaries, key points, flashcards, quizzes, mind maps and teach back. The handwriting reader downloads once the first time, so connect to the internet for that.

Back up your notes

Notes live on your device, so uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them. In Settings › Storage & backup, tap Create backup to save everything as one file, and Restore from backup to bring it back.

Host the web version yourself

docker run -p 8080:80 ghcr.io/warriorbiswas-tech/quirk-notes

Then open http://localhost:8080.
